The "miqat" refers to specific boundary points around Mecca, Saudi Arabia, beyond which pilgrims intending to perform Hajj or Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) must enter into a state of ritual purity called Ihram. There are several miqat locations, each corresponding to different directions from Mecca. These points mark the boundary beyond which pilgrims must don the Ihram garments and recite the intention to perform the pilgrimage.
Dhul Hulaifah (also known as Abyar Ali) - This is the miqat for pilgrims coming from or through Medina.
Al-Juhfah - This is the miqat for pilgrims coming from the direction of Syria, Egypt, or northwestern Saudi Arabia.
Qarn al-Manazil - This is the miqat for pilgrims coming from the direction of Najd (central region of Saudi Arabia).
Yalamlam - This is the miqat for pilgrims coming from the direction of Yemen.
Dhat Irq - This is the miqat for pilgrims coming from the direction of Iraq.
When pilgrims reach these miqat points, they must enter into the state of Ihram by performing specific rituals and reciting the intention for pilgrimage. Ihram consists of wearing two white, seamless garments for men and modest attire for women, along with adhering to certain rules and restrictions until the completion of their pilgrimage.
3.Rules of Ihram:"When Muslims go for Hajj or Umrah, they wear special clothes called Ihram. It's like a uniform that reminds them they are on a sacred journey. For men, it's two simple white sheets, and for women, it's modest attire. While in Ihram, they can't do certain things like cutting their hair or nails, wearing perfume, or fighting. It's a time to be peaceful, patient, and respectful to others. This special state starts at certain points before they reach Mecca and lasts until they finish their pilgrimage rituals.
