Iharam

To begin this holy journey, you must do the niya first and wear the Ihram clothes before crossing the meeqat boundary. Cleanliness of the body is necessary to enter into the state of Ihram.

Male pilgrims wear a pair of white garments Izar and the Rida, as Ihram. Rida is draped over the shoulder and covers the upper body. Izar is wrapped around a man’s waist to cover the lower body.

While for women, they can wear the abaya or a normal dress as an Ihram. Make certain that you avoid prohibited activities, as they affect the state of Ihram. Activities like scratching your body, cutting hair, or harming any living being. Your Umrah will be acceptable in case you do prohibited activities. After making the niyyah, offer two rakats of Salah before crossing the Meeqat boundary

Tawaf

Always enter the Masjid al-Haram with your right foot, as this is the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. The pilgrims circle about the Kaaba in an anti-clockwise direction to complete 7 circles; each round begins at the Black Stone. For men, it’s compulsory to complete the first 3 rounds of Kaaba in pace.

While the rest of the 04 rounds can be completed gradually. Women can complete all 7 rounds of Tawaf normally by walking. Offer two rakats near Ibrahim station and then go to Zamzam taps, drink water, and your Tawaf is completed.

Sa’i

The next rite of Umrah is Sa’i after Tawaf, which is walking between the Safa and Marwa hills. Men pilgrims are advised to start running from the fluorescent green lights and complete 7 rounds between Safa and Marwa.

While women pilgrims can complete all 7 rounds at a slow pace. The final round ends at Marwa of Sa’I.

Halq / Taqsir:

After completing the seven rounds between Safa and Marwa, male pilgrims shave their heads, which is called Halq. Female pilgrims only trim a portion of their hair equal to the length of the fingertip, known as Taqsir.

Your Umrah is now complete, and you may change into your normal clothes or prepare for another Umrah if you wish to perform it on behalf of someone else.
